Pedro Martinez

Pedro Martinez mowed down 13 Metropolis batters and second baseman Billy
Herman had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Chicago Bombers clobbered the outmatched
Metropolis Supermen, 12 to 2.

Herman was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He blasted a solo shot (his 5th of the
season) in the 1st inning, doubled in the 4th inning, singled plating a run
in the 6th inning and doubled knocking in a run in the 7th inning. The
Chicago offense man-handled the Metropolis pitching staff as they scored in 7
of the 9 innings.

The victory was credited to Martinez(21-6) who went the distance, allowing 2
runs. Sonny Siebert(5-10) suffered the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in
6 and 2/3 innings.

‘He was really impressive today,’ Siebert said of his counterpart. ‘Our guys
were just swinging at air.’

strikeouts anytime!’

Ronny Cedeno blasts 2 home runs in 7-6 victory over For Now 7

Ronny Cedeno cracked 2 home runs and had 4 RBI at Coors Field as the
Blazing Saddles came back dramatically to top the Bye For Now 7 by the score
of 7 to 6.

Blazing had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs
using 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Alex Gonzalez initiated the scoring
spurt when he laced a one-base hit. Cedeno came to the plate and popped a
two-run clout over the fence (his 4th of the season). Pat Burrell then lined
a single. One out later, Andre Ethier came up and he drew a walk. Jonathan
Papelbon then let a pitch get away from him. Carlos Pena kept the inning
going and was walked intentionally to load the bases. Melvin Mora was next
and he drew a walk giving Blazing the win and sending the home town fans into
a frenzy. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as
the lead kept changing – 6 times in all.

The victory went to Chad Cordero(1-1) who went 1/3 of an inning, allowing no
runs. Papelbon(2-2) took the loss in relief. Oldfart Lingers was all smiles
after the ballgame, ‘It sure was looking pretty dim there for a while, but
our guys never gave up – and neither did our fans – they kept cheering us on.
What a sweet win!’
