In an great finish the Midnight Madness came back in the top of the ninth and
held on to win over the Edmonton Taters by a score of 7 to 6 at Three Rivers
Midnight had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs using 2 hits. After two outs Hack Wilson began the Midnight spurt when
he drew a walk. Ken Singleton came to the plate and bombed a two-run dinger
(his 22nd of the season). Although they lost, Edmonton did out-hit Midnight
15 to 8.
Wilcy Moore(20-15) went 6 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Rollie
Fingers(2-2) ended up with the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 run in 1/3
of an inning and saw his ERA increase from 5.56 to 6.17.
Doug Elke was not very talkative after his team’s tough loss. ‘I’m not in the
mood for questions, but I’m sure Allen Ray will be glad to talk about the
game as long as you have questions to ask.’
Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki smacked 2 home runs and Anibal Sanchez was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game at Chase Field

4 hits and 5 walks.

Rick Ankiel homered and had 4 RBI and Javier Vazquez struck out 10 batters at
Busch Stadium as the Remember The Alamo beat the Brooklyn Bats by the

Ankiel enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He doubled which was good for two
runs in the 2nd inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his
