Denny Lemaster(13-11) got the win but did not look specatacular. He gave up 4
runs, 8 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings and surrendered 3 ’round-trippers’.
Galveston simply wore out the Edmonton pitching staff, scoring in 6 different
Pete Richert gained credit for his 22nd save. Jim Clancy(11-11) was given the
loss. He allowed Galveston 7 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings of work.
Left fielder Albert Belle ripped 3 home runs but his offense was not enough to
carry Edmonton to victory.
Clayton Kershaw held Dutch scoreless on just 3 hits as the Lady Gagas topped
the slumping Dutch Ovens by a score of 1 to 0 at Petco Park
Kershaw(20-13) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Dutch
hitters. He gave up just 3 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. Kershaw racked up
11 strikeouts. Lady had only 2 hits for the game.
Ubaldo Jimenez(11-18) was charged with the loss. He allowed 2 hits and 3
walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. ‘I’ve been working on a few things in my
delivery, and I think I’m hitting a good groove.’ Kershaw said after the
game. ‘I’m ready to start another game tomorrow!’

Third baseman Dean Palmer launched 3 home runs and had 6 RBI and Bob Wickman
was great in relief as the Jurrasic Park Raptors beat the Centerville Stoners
by a score of 16 to 8.
Palmer had a big day with his bat. He hit a bases-empty home run in the 1st
inning, stroked a single in the 6th inning, lifted one out of the park for a
two run home run in the 8th inning and clubbed a three-run home run (his 13th
of the season) in the 9th inning. Jurrasic Park lit up the scoreboard in the
6th inning which saw them plate 7 runs on 7 hits, the 8th inning when they
had 4 runs on 4 hits and the 9th inning with 4 runs on 3 hits. Wickman
pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 2nd save.
The winning pitcher was Kevin Appier(11-3) who allowed 7 runs in 6 and 1/3
innings. Andy Pettitte(5-11) was given the loss. He was not very effective,
surrendering 6 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings.
With this win, Jurrasic Park has a division leading 38-28 record. They have
been 7-3 lately. Centerville has a record of 33-33 after the loss.
The Bye For Now 7 registered 7 runs in the 8th inning and cruised to a 10 to 5
victory over the Asheville Tourists at Turner Field
Asheville was unable to overcome the big offensive rally by Bye in the 8th
inning showing no mercy on Asheville as they plated 7 runs on 7 hits. The
critical plate appearance was by Ichiro Suzuki, who thrilled the crowd when
he slapped a one-base hit which was good for two runs. Bye finished with 14
hits while Asheville ended up with 6.
Casey Janssen(5-4) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.
Huston Street(4-4) was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 2 runs
and 2 hits without retiring a batter.
