Chris Carpenter racked up an impressive total of 11 strikeouts as the Midland
Gars outscored the South Beach Talents 6 to 4.

Carpenter(20-12) had a solid outing for Midland. He went 7 and 2/3 innings
allowing 9 hits and 2 walks. Midland had 16 hits for the afternoon while
South Beach had 9.

Neftali Feliz gained credit for his 45th save. The loss was charged to Mark
Buehrle(10-10). He was knocked around by Midland, allowing 11 hits and 2
walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.

Not Dusty Baker was asked about the performance of Carpenter, ‘He had his good
stuff out there this afternoon. The fans really get into it when the
strikeouts start mounting up – and that seems to give him even more

Pedro Martinez grabs 25th win in 2-1 victory over Prosecutors

Pedro Martinez tossed a fine 3 hitter as the phenomenal Halles Heroes 4
outscored the Independent Prosecutors 2 to 1.

Martinez(25-7) was virtually untouchable. He allowed just 3 hits and 1 walk
in 9 innings. Martinez struckout 10 Independent batters. Halles had only 4
hits for the afternoon.

Dustin Hermanson(0-2) suffered the loss. ‘He came out with good stuff,’

2007 Season

James Shields fires shutout in 5-0 habernashers win

James Shields went 9 strong innings and second baseman Orlando Hudson had 5
hits and 2 RBI as the hammy habernashers defeated the inept Blazing Saddles
by a score of 5 to 0 at Coors Field

hammy started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the
first scoring a single run utilizing 2 base hits. That early scoring held
up. hammy finished with 9 hits in the victory.

For Shields(11-2) it was his 2nd shutout this year. The losing pitcher was
Jeff Francis(1-2). Shields was obviously very pleased with his performance
in the aftermath of the game, ‘It was just one of those games where
everything worked. My arm felt great, heck, I could have pitched another two
or three innings. I only hope that I can do it again next time out!’
