Koufax(14-8) dominated Montana hitters. He allowed only 8 hits and 1 walk in
9 innings. Montana could do no damage in the bottom of the 9th.
Tom Seaver(11-6) was hit with the loss. Despite losing, he struckout 15 NY
batters in 9 innings. ‘Everything felt great’ Koufax said. ‘I had a good
fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody today.’
Colby Lewis struck out 14 batters and left fielder Scott Podsednik jacked one
out of the ballyard and had 3 RBI at Kauffman Stadium as the Wisconsin
Animal Kingdom beat the spring break by the count of 8 to 2.
Lewis(19-12) put on a good performance. He gave up just 5 hits and 2 walks in
9 innings. Wisconsin totaled 9 hits on the afternoon.
Javier Vazquez(6-15) suffered the loss. He was not very effective,
surrendering 7 runs in 5 innings. ‘Everything felt great’ Lewis said. ‘I had
a good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody today.’

Jeromy Burnitz slammed 3 home runs and had 4 RBI as the indomitable Halles
Heroes 4 defeated the Transylvania Visigoths II by a score of 9 to 6 at
Burnitz was unconscious out there. While Transylvania pitching was serving
softballs up there for him to hit, the Transylvania fans were serving up some
hardball barbs when he entered the batter’s box. But he just used it as fuel
for the fire. He ripped a solo home run in the 5th inning, smashed a
solo-shot out of the park in the 7th inning and cracked a two-run shot (his
20th of the season) in the 8th inning. Halles had 15 hits overall, while
Transylvania had 9.
Dwight Gooden(13-7) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 6 runs. Gooden got relief help from Terry Adams who gained credit
for his 1st save. Bud Black(10-7) was the losing pitcher.
‘I had good swings today,’ Burnitz said, ‘Everything felt right’.
Dave Ross rocketed 2 home runs and had 3 RBI at US Cellular Field where the
Asheville Tourists beat the Quebec Patriots 12 to 6.
Ross was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team’s expense. He blasted a solo shot in the 3rd inning, cracked a
two-run shot (his 2nd of the season) in the 7th inning and slapped a one-base
hit in the 8th inning. Quebec was out-hit by Asheville, 16 hits to 11.
The winning pitcher was Scott Kazmir(3-3) who allowed 3 runs in 6 innings.
Daisuke Matsuzaka(2-6) was hit with the loss. Although losing the contest,
he whiffed 10 batters in 6 and 1/3 innings.
