The score was tied at 3 after nine. Whitewater finally pulled the game out in
the 17th inning. After an out was recorded, George Brett doubled.
Yastrzemski came to the plate and doubled making Whitewater the victors to
the delight of the home town faithful. Whitewater managed 15 hits in their

Hernandez(6-7) was tremendous on the mound for Minnesota. He didn’t allow
much, just 4 hits and no walks in 9 innings. Minnesota had a total of 19
hits for the game.
Tim Stauffer(9-11) ended up with the loss. He allowed 4 runs and 6 hits in 4
and 1/3 innings. ‘Hernandez pitched a gem of a game’, neil Gonzalez
recounted. ‘He kept our batters off balance the entire game.’

Mike Simms blasted 3 home runs and Joey Hamilton was able to finish what he
started and was credited with a complete game as the indomitable Detroit
Dragons defeated the Nashua Homecoming I by a score of 13 to 7 at Coors Field
It seemed that Nashua pitching was serving up softballs for Simms to hit. He
rifled a three-run blast in the 1st inning, launched a Grand Slam homerun in
the 4th inning and lofted a solo-blast ‘downtown’ (his 46th of the season) in
the 7th inning. Nashua scored in 5 different innings, but their shaky
pitching kept them from victory.
The win went to Hamilton(22-9) who allowed 7 runs in the game. Mike
Hampton(7-9) was given the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 7 hits and 3
walks in 3 innings.
‘I had a big day, but there’s a lot of credit to go around’ Simms said. ‘We
played well together as a team.’
Brandon Webb racked up an impressive total of 14 strikeouts as the Remember
The Alamo outscored the Brooklyn Bats 6 to 0.
Webb(4-1) was virtually untouchable. He surrendered only 5 hits and 2 walks
in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 1.27. Remember rapped out 10 hits for the
Roy Oswalt(1-3) was hit with the loss. Webb was humble when questioned about
his performance, ‘Well, I felt pretty confident in my pitches this afternoon.
But, I had great support behind me and I just threw what was called. That
was an extremely well called game!’
