Walter Johnson pitched a complete game and Cal Ripken had 2 base hits and 3
RBI as the Seattle Okanogans XII topped the Fat Drunk And club by a score of
8 to 4 at Hilltop Park

Seattle had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning when they
scored 5 runs on 3 hits. The highlight belonged to Jeff Bagwell, who came
through for the home fans when he hit a ‘grand salami’ to the delight of his
teammates (his 65th of the season). Both teams ended up with 10 hits on the
afternoon.

The victory was credited to Johnson(20-12) who went the distance, allowing 4
runs. Robb Nen(2-1) suffered the loss in relief. His ERA increased from 3.67
to 4.32 as he allowed 3 runs without retiring a batter.

short.

2007 Season

John Maine throws no-hitter, blanks BEES

John Maine(1-0) thrilled the fans at Petco Park as he crafted a no-hit
masterpiece against the BOSTON BEES. The Dallas Matrix won by a final score
of 1 to 0.

Maine was just too much for BOSTON. He gave his hometown fans a game they’ll
never forget! He walked 4 BOSTON batters. The tension was mounting with
every inning after the 6th. Maine appeared oblivious himself to the mounting
history until two were out in the 9th. Only then, did he allow himself one
deep sigh and a slow trip around the mound. Dallas managed 8 hits in their
victory.

Kevin Correia(0-2) absorbed the loss. He was the victim of a defensive lapse
and did not allow an earned run in the game.

When asked how his stuff was out there, Maine looked a bit incredulous (as did
this reporter) and replied ‘A bit better than average, I’d have to say’
