Chief Bender(7-12) thrilled the fans at Cleveland Stadium as he crafted a
no-hit masterpiece against the Cabin Fever. The St. Louis Browns won by a

Bender had his best stuff and was ‘painting the black’ with every pitch. A
beautiful game to watch. He walked 2 Cabin batters. What a day for the

12 hits and 4 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. ‘Bender pitched one heck of a
game!’ johnny keane said. ‘He didn’t get away with any bad pitches because
he just didn’t throw any bad pitches. What a performance!’
Mike Napoli cracked 3 home runs and had 6 RBI as the Buffalo Bashers_14 topped
the Troubled Souls by a score of 6 to 5 at Kauffman Stadium
Napoli really lit it up for Buffalo. The Troubled fans let him have it for
what he did to their boys. He popped a two-run clout over the fence in the
2nd inning, delivered a solo blast in the 4th inning and smacked a three-run
homer (his 7th of the season) in the 7th inning. This was the kind of game
that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.
The victory went to Anibal Sanchez(5-4) who went 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing 5
runs. Brian Wilson earned the save, his 9th. The losing pitcher was Elmer
Dessens(1-1) in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 2 hits in 1/3 of an inning.
‘Actually, I didn’t feel that comfortable at the plate today’ Napoli said
after the game. ‘Despite that, I’m happy with the results!

Pedro Martinez struck out 10 batters as the Chicago Rockets defeated the
lifeless Roid Bombers by a score of 8 to 0 at Three Rivers Stdm
Martinez(16-8) was on top of his game. He allowed just 5 hits and no walks in
9 innings. Chicago had a total of 13 hits for the game.
Shane Reynolds(7-12) was hit with the loss. He was not very effective,
surrendering 8 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Martinez was jubilant in the
hometown clubhouse, ‘It was a lot of fun out there. The fans gave me a lot
of support as did my teammates. We got the victory and I’ll sure take 10
Roberto Alomar cracked 2 home runs and had 5 RBI as the Quebec Reds defeated
the Happy Jacks 5th Hammer by the score of 8 to 5 at Coors Field
Alomar enjoyed a big day at the plate. He lifted one out of the park for a
two run home run in the 2nd inning and lofted a three-run bomb (his 19th of
the season) in the 8th inning. Overall Quebec out-hit Happy Jacks 12 to 9.
Eric Plunk(7-3) got the win allowing 2 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Plunk was
helped out by John Johnstone who recorded his 16th save. Shane
Reynolds(6-12) was tagged with the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in
his 7 and 1/3 innings of work.
