Fever destroyed the floundering Blind In Texas by a score of 16 to 6 at Polo
Kiner was in a groove all day. The Blind In fans hated to see him approaching
the batter’s box. He popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 7th inning
and clubbed a three-run home run (his 44th of the season) in the 8th inning.
Cabin lit up the scoreboard in the 6th inning which saw them plate 6 runs on
3 hits and the 8th inning with 4 runs on 4 hits. Cabin had 14 hits for the
afternoon while Blind In had 9.
Jonathan Herrera had 2 base hits and Jon Lester dominated striking out 14
Buffalo batters as the Dearborn Thunderbirds topped the Buffalo Bashers_13 by
a score of 4 to 2 at Yankee Stadium
Lester(3-4) put on a good performance. He surrendered only 5 hits and 6 walks
in 9 innings and surrendered 2 ‘long bombs’ seeing his ERA drop from 4.11 to
3.79. Dearborn finished with 8 hits in the victory.
John Danks(5-3) took the loss. ‘Everything felt great’ Lester said. ‘I had a
good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody today.’
Back to the ’90s
In a close game it was the Upmearseton Bonified Bono’s 11, the Ardmore Rockers
9 at The Skydome
Ardmore was unable to recover after Upmearseton went ahead in the bottom of
the 7th inning when they tallied 2 runs on 4 hits. Upmearseton finished with
10 hits in the victory.
The winning pitcher was Alan Mills(2-1) who allowed 1 run in 2 and 1/3
innings. Jeff Reardon(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief. He surrendered
2 hits and no walks in 1 and 2/3 innings.
The Thundering Herd batters feasted on the Quebec Reds pitching at Coors Field
The final score was a lop-sided 13 to 4.
Steve Finley enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He rifled a three-run blast
(his 20th of the season) in the 1st inning, stroked a one-base hit in the 3rd
inning and smacked a single in the 9th inning. Thundering managed 10 hits in
Jose Rosado(10-6) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.
Paul Byrd(5-8) was the loser. He was touched for 3 home runs in his 5 and 2/3
innings of work.
With this win, Thundering has a 40-30 record. They have been 4-6 lately. Not
able to get much going in recent weeks, Quebec is 2-8 of late and now has an
overall record of 36-34.
