Mickey Mantle rocketed 3 home runs and had 6 RBI and Jack Coombs pitched a
complete game at Fulton Cnty Stdm as the jonesville Yankees belted the
O’Roark Groundhogs by the count of 18 to 5.

Mantle was spectacular at the plate. The hometown fans showed their
appreciation with a standing ovation his last time at bat. He popped a
two-run clout over the fence in the 5th inning, cracked a two-run shot in the
7th inning and blasted a two-run home run (his 9th of the season) in the 8th
inning. jonesville bats were very productive in the 5th inning with 7 runs
on 7 hits and the 7th inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 6 hits.
jonesville had a total of 21 hits for the game.

The winning pitcher was Coombs(2-1) who allowed 5 runs for the game. Jim
Palmer(2-2) was charged with the loss. jonesville scored big getting 8 runs
off him in 4 and 1/3 innings.

‘Actually, I didn’t feel that comfortable at the plate today’ Mantle said
after the game. ‘Despite that, I’m happy with the results!

2010 Season

Jim Thome blasts 3 home runs in 10-6 victory over Lumber Co IV

Jim Thome rocketed 3 home runs and had 6 RBI and Tim Lincecum whiffed 11
batters as the Window Rock Caucasians outscored the Glendale Lumber Co IV 10
to 6.

Thome was really in ‘the zone’. He smashed a bases-empty ‘big-fly’ in the 4th
inning, lofted a three-run ‘big-fly’ in the 7th inning and blasted a two-run
home run (his 19th of the season) in the 9th inning. Window Rock rapped out
10 hits for the afternoon.

The win was credited to Lincecum(11-5) who went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 6
runs. Tommy Hanson(5-9) was tagged with the loss. Lincecum was pleased with
his performance. He noted, ‘I had good command of all my pitches. Just as
important, my location was right on.’

Back to the ’90s

Roger Clemens strikes out 13 batters, beats Surrender 8-1

Shortstop Alan Trammell hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI and Roger Clemens racked
up an impressive total of 13 strikeouts as the Chicago Rockets defeated the
Neeever Surrender by a score of 8 to 1 at Three Rivers Stdm

Clemens(8-12) simply dominated Neeever. He allowed only 5 hits and 2 walks in
9 innings. Chicago totaled 14 hits on the afternoon.

Jack Morris(11-4) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 7 hits and 3 walks in 5
innings. MacDaddy was asked about the performance of Clemens, ‘He had his
good stuff out there this afternoon. The fans really get into it when the
strikeouts start mounting up – and that seems to give him even more
adrenalin.’
