Piazza had a big day at the plate. He doubled bringing in two baserunners in
the 1st inning, delivered a single resulting in a run in the 4th inning,
blasted a solo shot (his 11th of the season) in the 6th inning and singled in
the 9th inning. Balco had 15 hits for the game and Beanville had 3.
Clemens(7-5) got the win allowing 1 run in 8 and 2/3 innings. Verdell
Mathis(1-11) was the loser. He was hit hard and gave up 12 hits and 3 walks
in 4 and 1/3 innings.
michael berberich was impressed with Clemens and his 13 strikeouts. ‘It’s
tough to generate runs if you can’t make contact with the ball.’
Center fielder Austin Jackson hit for the cycle and had 5 RBI as the Fluffy
Pink Satanists outscored the Troubled Souls 8 to 5.
Jackson was really ‘in the zone’. He cleared the fences for a two-run home
run (his 2nd of the season) in the 3rd inning, doubled bringing in a run in
the 4th inning, smacked a single which scored a run in the 6th inning and
tripled scoring a run in the 7th inning. Fluffy Pink had 16 hits for the
game and Troubled had 6.
Jon Garland(3-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing 4
runs. Garland got help from Joel Hanrahan who was credited with his 6th save.
Jeremy Guthrie(1-4) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 6 runs in 5 and 1/3
innings of work.
‘They made a couple of mistakes and I took full advantage,’ Jackson said ‘next
time I’m sure they’ll pitch me tougher.’

Andy Van Slyke slammed 2 home runs and had 4 RBI at Riverfront Stdm as the
Blackmail Men beat the Sucky Suckholes 9 to 5.
Van Slyke had a good day at the plate. He popped a two-run clout over the
fence in the 3rd inning, slapped a base-hit in the 4th inning and cleared the
fences for a two-run home run (his 15th of the season) in the 6th inning.
Blackmail had 11 hits for the afternoon while Sucky had 5.
Right fielder Manny Ramirez smashed 2 home runs and had 4 RBI at Wrigley Field
where the Carlisle Roidragers 3 beat the Thundering Herd in 10 innings by
the score of 9 to 8.
The game was deadlocked at 8 after nine full innings. Carlisle won the game in
the 10th inning. Chili Davis ripped a base-knock. Tony Eusebio came to the
plate and drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Nomar Garciaparra came up
and he drew a walk to load the bases. Chipper Jones followed and he laced a
single giving Carlisle the win much to the delight of the home town crowd.
Carlisle and Thundering each finished the afternoon with 14 hits.
Doug Jones(3-2) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Antonio
Alfonseca(1-4) suffered the loss in relief. He pitched 2 and 1/3 innings
giving up 3 hits and 1 walk.
