All-Time Greats VI | Results

Third baseman John Beckwith rocketed 2 home runs and had 4 RBI as the Play Ball
destroyed the Seattle Okanogans XII by a score of 18 to 6 at Stars Park
(NeL).

It was a good day for Play thanks to Beckwith. He laced a one-base hit in the
1st inning, lost the ball over the fence for three runs in the 2nd inning,
laced a single in the 3rd inning and smashed a bases-empty ‘big-fly’ (his
16th of the season) in the 5th inning. Play bats were hot in the 2nd inning
which saw them plate 13 runs on 11 hits and the 5th inning when they had 4
runs on 5 hits. Seattle was out-hit by Play, 23 hits to 8.

The win was credited to Howie Camnitz(5-5) who went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing
6 runs. Deacon Phillippe(3-5) was the loser. He surrendered 6 hits and 2
walks in 1 and 1/3 innings.

‘I’ve spent a lot of time in the cage and made some adjustments and they’ve
paid off,’ Beckwith said. ‘I just take the same approach up there. I don’t
overanalyze it. I go up there, see the ball and try to put a good swing on
it.’
