Randy Johnson

Randy Johnson whiffed 14 batters and Ted Williams lofted one into the ‘cheap
seats’ and had 3 RBI as the blistering-hot Punctual Pelicans beat the
Brooklyn Dodgers by a score of 7 to 2.

Johnson(4-2) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He gave up just 8 hits
and 4 walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 5.40 to 4.68. After the
4th inning, neither team was able to score.

Dizzy Dean(2-5) was given the loss. Punctual scored big getting 7 runs off
him in 2 and 2/3 innings. Bklyn, joe was impressed with Johnson and his 14
strikeouts. ‘It’s tough to generate runs if you can’t make contact with the
ball.’

2010 Season

Stephen Drew blasts 3 home runs in 9-8 victory over Badgers

Stephen Drew cracked 3 home runs and had 6 RBI and Craig Breslow shut Iola down
as the Salty Pretzels defeated the Iola Badgers by the score of 9 to 8 at
Target Field

Drew punished Iola with his bat. He clubbed a three-run home run in the 3rd
inning, cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 5th inning and
smashed a bases-empty ‘big-fly’ (his 19th of the season) in the 7th inning.
This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5
times.

The victory was credited to Wilton Lopez(4-5) who went 1 and 2/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Lopez was helped out by Breslow who recorded his 40th save.
Rafael Betancourt(7-7) suffered the loss in relief.

‘It’s just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,’ Drew said. ‘You try to hit in your own capacity and not
do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by game,
and pitch by pitch.’

Back to the ’90s

John Olerud homers twice in 11-9 loss to Sucker Fish

In a thrilling finish the Syracuse Sucker Fish won in dramatic fashion coming
back to beat the Hometown Heroes by the count of 11 to 9.

Syracuse erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning as
they scored 5 runs on 4 base hits. The highlight belonged to Tony Pena, who
brought a roar from the partisan The Kingdome fans when he smacked a
three-run homer (his 1st of the season). Hometown was not lacking for run
support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they
seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames.

Alejandro Pena(5-2) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Rudy
Seanez(5-3) suffered the loss in relief. ‘Now there is a lesson in
perseverance for you,’ Mike Bordick noted. ‘It was looking pretty dim there
for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it really paid off in spades!
And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there at the end!’

a run in the 1st inning, doubled plating two runs in the 2nd inning and
tripled knocking in a run in the 3rd inning. Quebec scored in 5 different
innings, but their shaky pitching kept them from victory.

innings. Pedro Astacio(1-1) suffered the loss. He gave up 8 runs and 5 hits
in 1 and 1/3 innings.
