Bob Gibson reeled off a total of 13 strikeouts and Albert Belle smashed 2
homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Boyhood Idols man-handled the Sunday Sluggers –
the final score was 11 to 1.

Belle enjoyed a big day at the plate. He smashed a bases-empty ‘big-fly’ in
the 5th inning, banged out a single which plated a run in the 7th inning and
smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 41st of the season) in the 9th
inning. Boyhood had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6
separate innings.

Gibson(16-10) lasted until the end allowing 1 run for the win. Ted
Trent(14-10) was the loser. He served up 4 gopher balls in 6 and 1/3
innings.

Joe was impressed with Gibson and his 13 strikeouts. ‘It’s tough to generate
runs if you can’t make contact with the ball.’

2010 Season

Scott Podsednik steals 6 bases in 7-3 victory over Royals

Designated hitter Seth Smith had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Bergen Irish beat the
Quebec Royals by a score of 7 to 3.

Smith had a big day against Quebec. He banged out a single in the 2nd inning,
cracked a solo homerun (his 13th of the season) in the 4th inning, doubled in
the 5th inning and doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 9th inning.
Bergen finished with 17 hits in the victory.

The victory went to Roy Halladay(14-14) who went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs.
Tim Lincecum(16-10) was tagged with the loss. He was not very effective,
surrendering 5 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings.

Back to the ’90s

Manny Ramirez homers twice in 9-5 victory over Lemmings

Manny Ramirez blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Roger Clemens was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game at The Astrodome
as the spring time birds beat the Mindless Lemmings by the count of 9 to
5.

The Mindless fans didn’t appreciate the big day Ramirez had. He stroked a
single plating a run in the 5th inning, blasted a two-run home run in the 6th
inning and smashed a bases-empty ‘big-fly’ (his 45th of the season) in the
8th inning. spring time had 12 hits for the afternoon.

The winning pitcher was Clemens(19-10) who allowed 5 runs for the game. Mike
Mussina(13-13) took the loss. He was knocked around by spring time, allowing
9 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

‘I’ve spent a lot of time in the cage and made some adjustments and they’ve
paid off,’ Ramirez said. ‘I just take the same approach up there. I don’t
overanalyze it. I go up there, see the ball and try to put a good swing on
it.’
