Sandy Koufax pitched a complete game as the Whats up Doc defeated the Brooklyn
Neptunes by the score of 15 to 7 at Shea Stadium
Whats up promptly took the lead in their half of the first when they scored 2
runs on 3 hits. Whats up lit up the scoreboard in the 3rd inning plating 4
runs and the 4th inning with 5 runs on 5 hits. Brooklyn scored in 5
different innings, but their shaky pitching kept them from victory.
Koufax(20-12) lasted until the end allowing 7 runs for the win. The loss was
charged to Fred Scherman(4-5). He allowed 6 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 1/3
Cole Hamels was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game at US Cellular Field where the keller lonesome doves beat
the Chicago Vacation 8 to 3.
Matt Holliday was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he
provided much of the offense for the visitors. He doubled in the 1st inning,
belted a three-run homer (his 24th of the season) in the 4th inning and
doubled in the 6th inning. keller managed 13 hits in their victory.
Hamels(11-14) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. C.J.
Wilson(7-5) ended up with the loss. He surrendered 7 runs in 3 and 1/3
innings and saw his ERA increase from 3.84 to 4.50.

Jim Deshaies whitewashed Pittsburgh as the Syracuse Sucker Fish defeated the
Pittsburgh Pinatas by the score of 8 to 0 at Yankee Stadium
Deshaies(8-8) was in control of the game from the outset. He allowed only 5
hits and 4 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 4.68. Syracuse had a total
of 10 hits for the game.
The losing pitcher was Tom Gordon(3-3). He served up 3 homeruns in his 6
innings. ‘Thankfully we got ourselves a win’, Deshaies said. ‘It’s great to
be back on the winning side of things.’
