Perfection was achieved in Toronto Sweat as Mat Latos(7-6) mesmerized the
crowd while retiring every Dearborn club batter, resulting in a 4 to nothing
Latos was just too much for Dearborn. He gave his hometown fans a game
they’ll never forget! The tension started to build around the 6th inning. By
the 9th inning the crowd was electrified. Latos struckout 10 Dearborn
batters. Toronto Sweat had a total of 7 hits for the game.
Tim Hudson(9-11) was tagged with the loss. ‘Latos made us look bad’

in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Beanie Weenies by the count of 7
Cedar Crest scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning with 2 runs utilizing
4 base hits. Cal Ripken opened up the inning nicely when he laced a
base-hit. Bell followed and he doubled. Eddie Murray then delivered a
single knocking home two runners. For the game Cedar Crest out-hit Beanie 14
Jeff Reardon(3-5) went 2 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory. Gene
Garber(2-2) was the loser in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 4 hits in 1
Franks N’Beens was not very talkative after his team’s tough loss. ‘I’m not
in the mood for questions, but I’m sure Davey Johnson will be glad to talk
about the game as long as you have questions to ask.’
