Lefty Grove grabs 27th win in 8-2 victory over Caveats

Lefty Grove pitched a complete game at Forbes Field as the indomitable
Carter’s Birthday Bash beat the Hidden Caveats by the count of 8 to
2.

Carter’s came up with 4 runs in the 2nd inning with the help of 5 hits. That
was all Grove(27-8) needed. Hidden had 11 hits in the game while Carter’s
had 8, but Carter’s had the more timely hits.

Andy Cooper(22-14) took the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 8
runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.

The That’s The Way Baseball Go nipped the New York BurgerKings 6 to 5 at
Target Field in a hard fought contest.

That’s The won the game with a run in the 9th inning. Josh Hamilton ripped a
solo home run (his 14th of the season). It was roller coaster of a game as
the lead change hands 5 times.

Alexi Ogando(4-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
1 run. Neftali Feliz was credited with his 33rd save. Miguel Batista(0-5)
absorbed the loss in relief.

With this win, That’s The has a 53-42 record. They have been 7-3 lately.
With the loss, the New York ballclub’s record is 45-50.

Roger Clemens notches 29th win in 3-2 victory over Twinkies

Designated hitter Kevin Maas had 2 base hits and Roger Clemens struck out 10
batters as the Big Whiskey Pig Farmers outscored the Twin City Twinkies in 10
innings 3 to 2.

Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Big Whiskey was
victorious in the 10th inning. After two outs Gerald Williams ripped a
base-knock. Ryne Sandberg stepped into the batter’s box and he stroked a
single. Maas then laced a base-knock making Big Whiskey victorious to the
delight of the the home town crowd. Big Whiskey rapped out 9 hits for the
afternoon.

Clemens(29-10) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. John
Smoltz(12-23) was the loser. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of
Clemens – except Twin City. Rocky Bridges lamented, ‘He just was ‘on’ this
afternoon. He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a
good strikeout pitcher – makes it a fun game for the hometown fans –
unfortunately we were the visitors!’
