Shortstop Eric McNair smacked 3 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Peezo Reamers
rallied impressively to win in dramatic style over Adirondack Bats, 12 to
McNair really lit it up for Peezo. The Adirondack fans let him have it for
what he did to their boys. He cleared the fences for a two-run home run in
the 2nd inning, laced a base-hit in the 4th inning, smashed a bases-empty
‘big-fly’ in the 7th inning and cracked a solo homerun (his 14th of the
season) in the 8th inning. Peezo totaled 15 hits on the afternoon.
Bill Doak(10-15) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 7
runs. Gene Nelson was credited with his 25th save. Orval Grove(12-17) took
the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 7 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
‘I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.’ Doak said. ‘I was lucky I got a win because I couldn’t put the
ball where I wanted it.’
Lester(7-6) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Cedar Rapids offense.
He allowed only 2 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Lester recorded 14
strikeouts and surrendered 2 homeruns. Title managed 13 hits in their
Roy Oswalt(6-4) ended up with the loss. ‘Lester pitched a gem of a game’, QJ
McCormick recounted. ‘He kept our batters off balance the entire game.’

Randy Johnson racked up an impressive total of 15 strikeouts as the Carry on
Wayward Son defeated the Easter Isle Bunnies by the score of 5 to 2 at
Johnson(18-17) was virtually untouchable. He was stingy on the mound,
allowing just 5 hits and no walks in 9 innings. Easter Isle went down
quietly in the 9th.
Hideo Nomo(22-11) suffered the loss. ‘He was moving it around and spotting it
