Ubaldo Jimenez grabs 20th win in 10-4 victory over Antiquaters

Manny Ramirez had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Cisco Thunderbolts defeated the
Arduous Antiquaters (d) by a score of 10 to 4 at Comerica Park

Ramirez enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He slapped a one-base hit in the 1st
inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 10th of the season) in the
2nd inning, lined a single in the 6th inning and laced a base-knock resulting
in a run in the 7th inning. Cisco finished with 16 hits while Arduous ended
up with 9.

Ubaldo Jimenez(20-15) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory.
The loss was charged to Ervin Santana(13-20). He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 10 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.

Bill Swift fires shutout in 5-0 Rabble win

Vinny Castilla had 4 hits and scored 3 times and Bill Swift delivered 9 solid
innings at Camden Yards as the Unwashed Rabble beat the Helz Angels by
the count of 5 to 0.

Unwashed jumped on top of Helz in the 2nd inning scoring one runner using 2
hits. That was all the runs Swift(10-14) needed. Unwashed banged out 14
hits on the afternoon.

Andy Pettitte(17-9) suffered the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 12 hits and
2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.

1986 Season

Fernando Valenzuela notches 20th win in 3-2 victory over Crossfire 8

24,112 fans watched an exciting game at The Astrodome The Frankfurt
ballclub topped the Carlisle Crossfire 8 by the slimmest of margins, 3 to
2.

In the bottom of the 7th inning Frankfurt scored 2 runs when they had 3 base
hits. They would prove to be the difference in the contest. Tom Henke was
perfect in relief and got the save, his 36th.

Fernando Valenzuela(20-10) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Pat
Perry(7-7) was the loser in relief. The Frankfurt ballclub’s record now
stands at 65-73. With the loss Carlisle now has a record of 64-74.

Paul Konerko had 3 base hits and Jhoulys Chacin struck out 13 batters as the
Bloody Mary’s beat the Glendale Lumber Co by a score of 5 to 0.

Chacin(15-4) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn’t allow much,
just 8 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings. Bloody banged out 10 hits on the
afternoon.

Roy Oswalt(18-14) suffered the loss. He allowed 5 runs and 9 hits in 8 and
1/3 innings. ‘He was really impressive today,’ Oswalt said of his
counterpart. ‘Our guys were just swinging at air.’

Mickey Tettleton homers twice in 4-3 loss to Rabble

Catcher Tony Pena hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the Unwashed Rabble
defeated the Tiffin Griffins 4 to 3 at Camden Yards

Unwashed took the lead off Pete Schourek in the first inning when they scored
2 runs on 2 hits. The big moment was provided by Vinny Castilla, who
deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he smashed a two-run homer
(his 34th of the season). Tiffin made it exciting in the 9th, but they were
unable to push the needed runs across.

Terry Mulholland(11-8) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Eddie Guardado earned the save, his 5th. Schourek(8-14) was hit with the
loss.

When questioned about the loss, Roger Zepernick said, ‘The fans got to see an
exciting game out there this afternoon. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get it
done this time. Next time, though, we’ll be the clubhouse with all the
smiles.’

1999 Season

Chuck Finley notches 15th win in 15-3 blowout of Showboats

Bernie Williams cracked 2 home runs and had 7 RBI at New Comiskey Park as
the Hudson Whalers, running on all cylinders, ripped the Myrtle Beach
Showboats by a large 15 to 3 margin.

Williams enjoyed a great day at the plate. Every time he came up in the
latter innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He lofted a three-run
‘big-fly’ in the 3rd inning, ripped a base-knock which plated a run in the
5th inning, laced a base-hit scoring two baserunners in the 6th inning and
lofted a solo-blast ‘downtown’ (his 28th of the season) in the 8th inning.
Hudson lit up the scoreboard in the 5th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on
5 hits and the 6th inning with 6 runs on 4 hits. Hudson ended up with 16
hits for the game while Myrtle Beach had 5.

Chuck Finley(15-10) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 8 and 1/3
innings. Greg Hansell(3-2) took the loss in relief.

Tim Lincecum took a no-hitter into the 6th inning at Great Amer. Bpk where
the Acton Bull Dogs beat the USA Americans by the score of 3 to
1.

Lincecum(12-16) came through with a virtuoso performance against the USA
hitters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 4 hits and 1 walk in 9
innings. Lincecum struckout 13 USA batters. The right-handed Lincecum lost
his chance for a no-hitter when Julio Borbon singled with one out in the 6th
inning. Both teams finished the game with 4 hits.

Jon Garland(5-6) suffered the loss. He was stingy with the baserunners,
allowing just 4 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. ‘He came out with good stuff,’
Morty Biggs said about Lincecum. ‘He threw the ball good from the first pitch
on.’

Jose Deleon whiffed 11 batters and shortstop Alex Rodriguez launched 3
home runs and had 5 RBI as the Helz Angels ballclub embarrassed the Unwashed
Rabble by the count of 11 to 0.

Rodriguez had a big day at the plate. He ripped a solo home run in the 1st
inning, doubled in the 3rd inning, delivered a solo blast in the 7th inning
and belted a three-run homer (his 40th of the season) in the 8th inning.
Helz had 13 hits overall, while Unwashed had 6.

The victory went to Deleon(5-3) who went 7 and 1/3 innings, allowing no runs.
Sid Fernandez(8-9) was charged with the loss. He served up 6 gopher balls in
6 and 1/3 innings.

‘Everything felt great’ Deleon said. ‘I had a good fastball, I felt I could
throw it by everybody today.’

1999 Season

McGwire hits 50th home run

Nomar Garciaparra blasted 2 home runs and had 4 RBI at Coors Field as the
Quebec Cowboys embarrassed the Myrtle Beach Showboats by the lopsided score
of 14 to 4.

Garciaparra led the offense for Quebec. He laced a single which scored a run
in the 2nd inning, lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the
3rd inning and lofted a solo-blast ‘downtown’ (his 23rd of the season) in the
5th inning. For the game Quebec out-hit Myrtle Beach 17 to 10.

The winning pitcher was Livan Hernandez(16-6) who allowed 4 runs in 8 and 1/3
innings. Andy Pettitte(0-1) was tagged with the loss. ‘I’ve spent a lot of
time in the cage and made some adjustments and they’ve paid off,’ Garciaparra
said. ‘I just take the same approach up there. I don’t overanalyze it. I go
up there, see the ball and try to put a good swing on it.’

‘It’s almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,’ Avila said. ‘Whenever I
would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.’

Ricky Romero grabs 20th win in 2-1 victory over Train

Center fielder Shane Victorino connected with a ‘big fly’ and Ricky Romero
went the distance as the City Suffragettes defeated the Glendale Train by the
score of 2 to 1 at Target Field

Romero(20-15) looked very much in control throughout the day. He didn’t give
up much, just 5 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. City totaled 7 hits on the
afternoon.

Tim Lincecum(13-19) ended up with the loss. He pitched 6 and 1/3 innings
giving up 6 hits and no walks.

Craig Paquette homers twice in 9-5 victory over Mywaywardsons

Raul Mondesi smacked 2 home runs and had 3 RBI and Jeff Russell had a strong
outing at Candlestick Park where the Pearl Jam’s beat the Carreon
Mywaywardsons 9 to 5.

Mondesi was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He tripled which plated a run in the
1st inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 5th inning and hit a
bases-empty home run (his 39th of the season) in the 8th inning. Pearl had
12 hits overall, while Carreon had 7.

Alex Fernandez(10-17) allowed 5 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Russell got the save, his 2nd. Bill Swift(14-7) suffered the loss.
He surrendered 9 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings and saw his ERA increase from 3.39
to 3.64.

2007 Season

Alfonso Soriano blasts 2 home runs in 13-7 victory over Saddles

Alfonso Soriano smashed 2 home runs and had 3 RBI as the Quebec Patriots
outscored the pathetic Blazing Saddles 13 to 7.

Soriano enjoyed a big day at the plate. He blasted a solo shot in the 2nd
inning, cracked a solo homerun (his 38th of the season) in the 4th inning and
tripled resulting in a run in the 6th inning. Both teams totaled 13 hits on
the afternoon.

The victory was credited to Jimmy Gobble(2-3) who went 2/3 of an inning,
allowing no runs. Gobble got relief help from Francisco Cordero who gained
credit for his 15th save. Jon Garland(13-15) absorbed the loss. He was

‘It’s just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,’ Soriano said. ‘You try to hit in your own capacity and

game, and pitch by pitch.’

Bagwell enjoyed a big day at the plate. He delivered a solo blast in the 1st
inning, lofted a three-run bomb in the 2nd inning, doubled which was good for
two runs in the 6th inning and blasted a solo shot (his 21st of the season)
in the 8th inning. Dinah Moe bats were very productive in the 1st inning
when they had 4 runs on 4 hits, the 2nd inning plating 4 runs and the 8th
inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 3 hits. Dinah Moe finished with 16
hits while Triad ended up with 11.

Bud Black(12-8) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the win. Charlie
Hough(7-17) was given the loss. He surrendered 7 runs in 1 and 2/3 innings
and saw his ERA increase from 4.88 to 5.19.

‘I had good swings today,’ Bagwell said, ‘Everything felt right’.

At Chase Field the Minnesota Twins easily handled the Glendale Lumber Co
by the score of 9 to 5.

Minnesota went ahead for good in the 6th inning when they tallied 3 runs on 2
hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Jason Varitek, who deflated
the mood of the partisan fans when he doubled scoring two baserunners.
Overall Minnesota out-hit Glendale 11 to 5.

Matt Cain(20-8) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. Justin
Verlander(13-11) was the losing pitcher. Despite taking the loss, he whiffed
13 batters in 7 and 2/3 innings.

Frank Thomas homers twice in 9-7 victory over Stingers

Frank Thomas smashed 2 home runs and scored 3 times at Yankee Stadium as
the Unwashed Rabble pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Sussex
Stingers by the count of 9 to 7.

Unwashed won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning with 3 runs on
3 hits. Rickey Henderson led off the inning for Unwashed when he drew a
walk. Thomas was next and he drew a walk. Cecil Fielder then laced a single
to load the bases. Vinny Castilla was up next and he slapped a base-hit
resulting in a run. Raul Mondesi was a strikeout victim, unable to help out.
Cal Ripken Jr kept the inning going and drew a walk plating another run.
Jeff Kent was the next batter, but he struck out. Danny Bautista then ripped
a base-knock scoring the final run of the inning. Unwashed had a total of 14
hits for the game.

The win was credited to Rheal Cormier(2-4) who went 1/3 of an inning allowing
no runs. Cormier was helped out by Eddie Guardado who recorded his 4th save.
Lee Smith(1-7) was tagged with the loss in relief. He allowed 3 runs and 3
hits in 1 inning.

Angry Mob was very happy after the game, ‘It’s great to come back and win it
in your last at bats! Our guys just wouldn’t give up. And did you see the
fans – one minute they’re laughing and screaming down all sorts of
unprintable stuff at our guys – the next minute – SILENCE! Yes sir, a very
enjoyable win this afternoon!’

2007 Season

James Shields notches 20th win in 6-1 victory over The Alamo

James Shields mowed down 10 Remember batters as the powerful hammy
habernashers beat the Remember The Alamo by a score of 6 to
1.

Shields(20-10) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn’t give up
much, just 8 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. hammy banged out 10 hits on the
afternoon.

Javier Vazquez(15-15) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around pretty
good, giving up 6 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Shields was jubilant in the
hometown clubhouse, ‘It was a lot of fun out there. The fans gave me a lot
of support as did my teammates. We got the victory and I’ll sure take 10
strikeouts anytime!’

Right fielder Ichiro Suzuki had 3 base hits at Coors Field where the
strong Hoboken Hustlers beat the Philly Phanatics 3 by the score of 4 to
1.

Hoboken came up with 3 runs in the 6th inning with the help of 3 hits. The
highlight belonged to Corey Hart, who made the Hoboken fans a happy lot when
he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 37th of the season).
Hoboken finished with 9 hits while Philly ended up with 5.

Zack Greinke(20-11) allowed 1 run in 8 innings, and picked up the victory.
Joakim Soria earned the save, his 32nd. The loss was charged to Brian
Matusz(13-5). He allowed 5 hits and no walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Hoboken now has a record of a division leading 89-58. With this loss, Philly
has a 4-6 record of late, 78-69 overall.

Wanderers outscored the Jurrasic Park Raptors 10 to 4.

Delgado made sure the Wolverhampton fans enjoyed themselves. He delivered a
one-base hit plating a run in the 1st inning, cracked a two-run shot (his 9th
of the season) in the 3rd inning, hit a single in the 4th inning, singled in
the 6th inning and ripped a base-knock knocking in a run in the 7th inning.
Wolverhampton had 19 hits overall, while Jurrasic Park had 8.

beat the Quebec Patriots by the score of 16 to 10.

A had a great daAt the plate. He had the crowd cheering his every move. He
launched a Grand Slam homerun in the 1st inning, smashed a two-run homer in
the 2nd inning, smashed a bases-empty ‘big-fly’ (his 36th of the season) in
the 6th inning and doubled in the 8th inning. Carlisle kept the scorekeepers
busy in the 1st inning with 5 runs on 5 hits. The Carlisle offense was
great, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.

The victory was credited to Gil Meche(20-9) who went 6 innings, allowing 9
runs. Mike Timlin earned his 8th save. Bronson Arroyo(7-11) took the loss.

‘I was in my hotel room the other night, working on my swing and made some
adjustments,’ A said. ‘I’m always working on it. If theAre getting you out
certain ways, you’ve got to make changes.’
